Marriage Licenses
The Town Clerk's office issues Marriage Licenses to those who plan to be married within the State of New York. Both parties must be present in order for a license to be issued. Two forms of proof of identity are required, i.e. passport, birth certificate, and photo I.D.; preferably a valid driver's license. If this is not your first marriage, please provide certified copies of your divorce papers or death certificate of previous spouse. This documentation is needed for each previous marriage.
The cost of a license is $40. This license is valid for a period of 60 days (120 days for active military) after the initial 24 hour waiting period. The license allows you to be married anywhere in New York State.
